Vivian Chao – Ed. M. in HDE, C.A.S. in Counseling, HGSE
Vivian Chao is a dedicated mental health clinician with a background in school counseling, holding an M.Ed. in Human Development and Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling. She currently works at The Home for Little Wanderers, providing individual counseling to children through play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed approaches. Vivian has extensive experience in school settings, delivering culturally responsive counseling to K-12 students in Boston Public Schools, and is passionate about supporting marginalized and diverse student populations by guiding them through academic and personal challenges while fostering resilience and emotional well-being.
Matt Cohen – Ed. M. in HDE, C.A.S. in Counseling, HGSE
Matt Cohen is a graduate of the Human Development and Education Master's and Counseling Advanced Study programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Before coming to Harvard, he worked as a reading interventionist in Delaware, serving low income K-2 students. Now a licensed school adjustment counselor, Matt works at a local mental health nonprofit with a particular focus on early intervention for high risk behaviors. Because many kids fall through the cracks in the first place because one size doesn't fit all, Matt is especially interested in effective assessment strategies to inform interventions more targeted to each child's individual needs.

Siena Laws – Ed. M. Candidate, HGSE
Siena Laws is a masters student in the School Counseling Licensure Strand at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) and clinical intern at TechBoston Academy. Prior to attending HGSE she attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and received her B.S in Education Studies and Psychology. There she worked as a research assistant at the Center for Health Minds. She also served as the AmeriCorps volunteer coordinator for Easterseals Wisconsin, a non-profit serving veterans and people with disabilities. She founded Peer Share Mental Health in 2022, a school-based workshop series providing mental health education to high school students. Her interests include adolescent mental health services, friendship and relationship skills, peer-to-peer education and mentoring and youth participatory action research.
Agnes Lee – Ed. M. Candidate, HGSE
Agnes Lee is a Master's student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she is pursuing licensure in school counselling. With a background as a classroom teacher in an international school in Hong Kong, Agnes is passionate about supporting adolescents and young adults in healing from early childhood trauma through developing genuine connections with those young people. Through this lab, she is interested to learn how to best support caregivers and educators to create trauma-informed care that foster resilience, instil hopes and emotional well-being. In her free time, she enjoys long distance running and cooking.
Caitlin Lewis – Ed. M. Candidate, HGSE
Cait Lewis is a master's student studying Human Development and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is interested in working in adolescent mental health, as well as connecting teens and parents to accessible mental health resources. She also received a B.A. in Cognitive Science and Drama from Vassar College in 2021.
Melody Li – Ed. M. in HDE, C.A.S. in Counseling, HGSE
Melody Li is a mental health clinician and a research assistant working on the Digital Play Project. She earned her Ed.M. and C.A.S. in School Counseling from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2024 and a B.S. in Child Development from Vanderbilt University in 2022. She is interested in both clinical practice and research work focusing on counseling modalities.
Mingzhu Mao – Ed. M. in HDE, C.A.S. Candidate in Counseling, HGSE
Mingzhu Mao is a research assistant in the lab interested in the impacts of digital tools on parent-child interaction and children's socioemotional development. She graduated with an Ed.M. in Human Development and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2024. She earned a B.A. in Psychology and a B.Ed. in Education from Queen's University in 2023. She is currently enrolled in a Certificate of Advanced Study program, specializing in the school counseling track at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Kenneth Moales III - MDiv., Ed. M. Candidate in HDE, HGSE
Kenneth Moales III, MDiv. (He/Him/His), a native of Bridgeport, CT, is a proud graduate of Morehouse College, where he earned his B.A. in Psychology, and holds a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School (2024). He is currently pursuing a Master of Education in the Human Development program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Kenneth's research interests focus on addressing mental health disparities among Black and Brown boys, particularly in the assessment and diagnosis of attention deficit disorders. Guided by his belief that "The future is waiting, so we must get ready now," he is committed to innovative research and fostering environments where all children and adolescents can thrive.
Anna Taylor – Ed. M. Candidate, HGSE
Anna Taylor is a master's student in the Human Development and Education program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and Education & Child Study from Smith College in 2024. She is interested in researching how classroom environments can support children with anxiety.
